Job Overview

Sales Engineering is a vital part of our commercial sales success at Fastwyre. As a Technical Sales Engineer , you will play a dual role: supporting the internal sales team and engaging directly with customers. You will work closely with Account Executives, Account Managers, Product Management, Marketing, Engineering, and Field Operations to deliver technically sound, customer-centric solutions that drive revenue and long-term value.

This role is essential in translating technical concepts into business value, helping both internal stakeholders and external clients understand and deploy Fastwyre’s commercial solutions effectively. Your contributions will influence everything from solution design and customer education to project delivery and ongoing support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with Account Executives and Sales Managers to present and finalize technically sound solutions for prospects and customers.
  • Lead technical presentations and demonstrations to effectively communicate complex solution designs.
  • Support pricing strategies by assisting in cost analysis and Internal Rate of Return (IRR) calculations.
  • Own the site survey process—including on-site and virtual assessments—to validate technical feasibility.
  • Act as the technical liaison between Sales, Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Field Operations.
  • Provide ongoing training to sales staff and internal teams to increase understanding of Fastwyre solutions and improve deal velocity.
  • Use internal tools and systems to ensure smooth transitions from pre-sales engineering to order management and implementation.
  • Identify business expansion opportunities and develop business cases to support new initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Operations to ensure seamless customer onboarding and fulfillment of technical commitments.
  • Build and maintain cross-functional relationships, especially with Regional Directors of Commercial Sales.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to convey technical content to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and adaptable to internal CRM or order management tools.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently and within a team environment.
  • Agile and open to change, with the ability to foster innovation and process improvement.
  • Knowledge of CPNI regulations and ability to handle sensitive information appropriately.
  • Strong understanding of fiber optic technology and telecommunications solutions.
  • Willingness to travel for customer meetings, industry events, and internal team gatherings as needed.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Engineering, or a related field (required).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a technical sales or pre-sales engineering role within the Telecom, Cable, or Technology industry.
  • Proven track record of exceeding sales targets and contributing to the growth of a high-performing sales organization.
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating across functions in complex technical environments.
