HANA MAKGEOLLI (hananmakgeolli.com; @hanamakgeolli) is a Korean rice wine brewery based in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. We are the first and only domestic producer of artisanal Korean rice wines here in the US. Our wines showcase the breadth of the Korean sool category and are made with organic rice, using natural and traditional Korean brewing methodologies. We are open 3 days a week (Friday through Sunday) and our food and beverage program features the various cuvees we make here at the brewery alongside a small menu of thoughtful and authentic anju to pair. 

Role 

The Tasting Room Manager is responsible for overseeing the Tasting Room and the front of the house team. In addition to managing the day-to-day operations, the Tasting Room Manager will be responsible for event programming throughout the year, tracking performance of the food and beverage program and upholding a high standard of hospitality

  • Approximately 20-28 hours a week
  • Required to work at the brewery in Greenpoint, Brooklyn 

Responsibilities

  • Work with management to update and maintain the Tasting Room and its programs
  • Oversee Front of House staff when it comes to scheduling and schedule changes, time entries, time off requests, training, and performance feedback 
  • Maintain reservation system (Resy) and reservation requests (@reservation email)
  • Take inventory of and order all Tasting Room supplies, including kitchen and bar supplies
  • Assist with execution of menu changes (Timeline, Costing, Sourcing, Menu Updates, etc) 
  • Program and execute all private and pop-up events in the Tasting Room and support all event logistics and execution 
  • Update and maintain budgets in accordance with all supplies purchased for the Tasting Room
  • Work with operations team to update menus and POS system - ensuring all items are up to date
  • Maintain cleanliness of the Tasting Room and storage space and complete execution of daily and weekly cleaning schedules 
  • Communicate respectfully with kitchen, production team and managers as necessary to maintain cohesive service and building operations 
  • Oversee resolution of any guest issue or complaint and escalate issues to management as needed

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 years of lead bartender, assistant GM or similar leadership experience 
  • Strong knowledge for fermented beverages, distillates, cocktails, and have a passion for hospitality
  • Strives for continuous improvement and is eager to learn and grow
  • Exceptional verbal communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Ability to to train and develop staff 
  • Professional demeanor when dealing with guests, managers and fellow employees
  • Availability Thursday through Sunday in accordance with our opening hours 
  • Able to meet physical demands of the position - standing for 6-8 hours, lifting heavy objects, etc.
  • Ability to demonstrate quick thinking and adaptability in a constantly changing environment 
  • Exceptional work ethic and strong attention to detail
  • Team-oriented, responsive, and comfortable collaborating in a positive manner
  • Passion for breweries, wineries, or fermentation of all kinds is a plus! 
  • Food Safety, TIPS and/or ServeSafe Certified (or willing to get certified) 
  • 21 years old or over
