Job Overview

This role is for a full-time or part-time (if their preference) role at one ALF in South Naples. We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will work under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist to provide therapeutic services that help patients improve their ability to perform daily activities.

Duties

  • Assist Occupational Therapists in developing and implementing individualized treatment plans for patients.
  • Provide direct patient care by guiding patients through therapeutic exercises and activities.
  • Monitor patient progress and document changes in their condition or response to treatment.
  • Educate patients and their families about treatment plans, exercises, and strategies for improving daily living skills.
  • Maintain accurate records of patient care and progress in accordance with regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Actively lead exercise classes, participate in community events, and work collaboratively with community personnel
  • Utilize medical terminology effectively when communicating with team members and documenting patient interactions.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology related to occupational therapy practices.
  • Experience in acute care, outpatient, inpatient, clinic, or home health settings is highly desirable.
  • Proficient in assisting patients with various therapeutic exercises and activities.
  • Understanding of physiology and its application in rehabilitation processes.
  • Ability to provide compassionate patient care while maintaining professionalism.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with patients, families, and healthcare team members.

Requirements

  • Valid Occupational Therapy Assistant license in the state of Florida. 
  • Experience in a skilled nursing facility, ALF, or home health setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of physiology and medical terminology essential for effective patient care.
  • Familiarity with working with individuals with disabilities, including autism.
  • Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Ability to perform discharge planning effectively to ensure continuity of care.
  • Commitment to providing compassionate care that enhances the quality of life for patients.
