Services are coordinated and funded through Indiana’s network of Area Agencies on Aging and include the state-funded CHOICE program (Community and Home Options to Institutional Care for the Elderly and Disabled) and administration of two Medicaid waiver programs providing home- and community-based services for older adults and individuals of all ages with physical impairments; additionally, we support the development of alternatives to nursing home care and coordinates services through the statewide INconnect Alliance network.
Role Overview :
In this role, Bureau of Better Aging's Nutrition and Health Consultant, you will work to ensure the delivery of quality, effective programming and services to support the goals of the Older Americans Act (OAA) and related programs. Your role handles the day-to-day management of the OAA and related nutrition and health programs, ensuring the fulfillment of State responsibilities related to program planning, oversight, monitoring and reporting. The position works closely with grantees, providing programmatic and policy-related training and technical assistance. You will monitor for quality, effectiveness, and compliance with federal and state requirements. You will develop and maintain nutrition and health related program policy, strategy, and guidance, including nutrition standards and education.
The ideal candidate must be a credentialed as a Registered Dietitian. They will possess the ability to synthesize complex federal and state statutes and guidelines to make independent decisions in the administration of programs. Strong knowledge of health and nutrition concerns of older adults, food safety/sanitation, nutrition counseling, nutrition education, cultural diversity, and knowledge of health and nutrition as it relates to chronic diseases. Knowledge of principles and practices of HCBS service delivery; understanding of person-centered thinking practices, principles of trauma-informed care, and social determinants of health is preferred.
Salary Statement :
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $47,320.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.
