Night Manager

PAY RATE - $18.00

JOB SUMMARY:

The Night Managers serve two important purposes: to provide timely responses to campus problems, and to exhibit a visible staff presence in the residence halls even on a non-emergency basis. Desk coverage is one of the most important aspects of the residence life program. Night Managers on duty in each of the buildings monitor the building and respond to emergency and crisis situations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Monitor the residence hall desk and the university visitation policy.
• Make decisions relative to guests being admitted to the building relative to policies and procedures outlined…
• Must be able to effectively interact with students, parents, colleagues, university staff and vendors.
• Exhibit a visible staff presence in the residence halls even on a non-emergency basis.
• Provide timely responses to campus problems.
• Prepare and submit the necessary reports and other assignments expediently (i.e. work orders, visitation violators, incident reports etc.) ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Serves as mediator in resolving conflict between roommates and students in general.
• Is positive and constructive in attitudes and actions with regard to the university and the value and opportunities inherent in residential hall life.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred
• Previous security background experience is desirable

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

• Guard card preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Ability to stand and to go up and down stairs.
• Ability to speak and hear.
• Ability to work with little direct supervision.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
May be required to regularly stand for extended periods of time, walk, reach with hands/arms with full range of motion, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, push or pull. Regularly required to talk and hear. Frequently required to use hands and fingers to hold, handle and feel objects, knobs, keys and/or buttons.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The noise level is usually moderate.
