Job Description

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounts Payable Specialist to join our team on a contract basis in Mountain View, California. This role requires an experienced and meticulous individual to efficiently manage the full accounts payable cycle, support payroll processing, and assist with student billing and general ledger tasks. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work independently and thrive in a fast-paced environment, especially during critical year-end close activities. Responsibilities: - Oversee the complete accounts payable cycle, including invoice entry, coding, and payment processing. - Reconcile bank accounts and contribute to month-end financial reporting efforts. - Monitor budgets and ensure timely completion of fiscal year-end tasks. - Record general ledger entries and maintain accurate documentation. - Process credit card transactions and verify their accuracy for compliance. - Assist with payroll processing for approximately 124 employees using Paycom. - Coordinate 401(k) deductions and reporting in collaboration with Principal. - Manage billing activities related to student accounts and ensure accuracy. - Prepare audit-ready documentation and provide support during financial reviews. Requirements - At least 4 years of experience in accounts payable or related accounting functions. - Familiarity with payroll systems, such as Paycom, and general ledger operations. - Previous experience working in school, nonprofit, or education-focused organizations is preferred. - Strong knowledge of accounts payable best practices and compliance standards. - High level of attention to detail with the ability to perform tasks independently. - Excellent organizational skills and effective communication abilities. - Proficiency in accounting software systems such as Xero, Bill.com, Square, PayPal, and Blackbaud. - Understanding of accrual accounting and auditing processes.
